- Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver effective English lessons aligned with Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE frameworks.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills across a range of texts.
- Prepare students for IGCSE examinations, including exam techniques and structured writing.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including EAL and SEN students.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and academically challenging classroom environment.
- Assessment and Progress
- Design and implement assessments aligned with Cambridge standards.
- Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Apply Assessment for Learning (AfL) strategies to support ongoing improvement.
- Track performance and implement appropriate interventions.
- Professional and Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and student progress.
- Prepare reports, lesson plans, and curriculum documentation as required.
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Pastoral Care and Inclusion
- Promote student wellbeing, positive behaviour, and a safe learning environment.
- Support students’ academic and personal development, including form tutor responsibilities if assigned.
- Implement inclusive practices and collaborate with support services to meet individual needs.
- Wider Contribution and Safeguarding
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and school initiatives.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- English - Fluent
- Bachelor's Degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or related field
- Teaching experience in Secondary English for 2 years as a minimum
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- TESOL/TEFL certification (preferred)
- Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE or equivalent curriculum
- Experience working with EAL learners in an international or multilingual environment
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for English language and literature
- Ability to inspire students and develop confident, independent learners
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive mindset
