Job Description
The Cambodia University of Technology and Science (CamTech) was established in 2021 with the vision of becoming a leading university in technology and science to support Cambodia’s future prosperity. Located in Chroy Changva Satellite City, Phnom Penh, CamTech maintains strong links between higher education, industry, and applied research.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Strategic Vision and Leadership
- Partner with the Vice President to develop and implement a strategic plan that positions CamTech as a leader in engineering education and research, with a focus on Cambodia’s national development goals.
- Champion fields that are essential to Cambodia’s growth, such as clean energy, sustainable agriculture, smart cities, infrastructure development, and digital transformation.
- Lead the faculty in adopting hands-on, context-driven learning methodologies, such as community-based projects and industry partnerships, to ensure students are prepared to address local challenges with global best practices.
- Academic Excellence and Curriculum Development
- Ensure curriculum relevance by aligning programs with Cambodia’s labor market and development needs, equipping students with skills for sectors like sustainable construction, environmental engineering, agritech, and healthcare.
- Promote interdisciplinary programs that bridge engineering with fields crucial to Cambodia, such as environmental studies, natural resource management, and public health.
- Encourage faculty to innovate in teaching practices, incorporating virtual labs, local industry case studies, and collaborative tools that resonate with Cambodia’s unique context.
- Research and Innovation
- Foster a research culture focused on solutions for local challenges, from climate-resilient infrastructure to sustainable energy sources and waste management systems.
- Build partnerships with Cambodian industries, government agencies, and international institutions to create funding opportunities, practical research applications, and pathways for local internships.
- Ensure research compliance and integrity, with a focus on socially responsible and culturally relevant solutions that benefit Cambodian communities.
- Student Experience and Mentorship
- Develop programs that enhance the student journey, including career counseling, professional workshops, and mentorship with industry leaders within Cambodia and abroad.
- Provide hands-on learning opportunities through local internships, fieldwork, and collaborations with Cambodian firms and NGOs, ensuring students gain practical skills relevant to the local economy.
- Champion diversity and inclusion, developing programs to attract underrepresented groups, particularly women and rural students, and support an equitable learning environment.
- Community Engagement and Partnerships
- Act as a bridge between the faculty and external Cambodian stakeholders, including local industries, alumni, and governmental bodies, to strengthen community relationships and collaboration.
- Represent CamTech University at academic, industry, and government events to promote its vision, programs, and achievements, helping to position Cambodia as a hub for engineering education and innovation.
- Lead outreach initiatives that showcase engineering’s role in Cambodia’s development, including public lectures, community-based projects, and STEM education for local schools, inspiring future engineers from a young age.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Phd in Engineering or a closely related field, with a proven record in applied research and teaching
- At least in academic leadership, with experience managing diverse teams and creating academic or research programs tailored to community needs for 5 years
- Local and Regional Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Cambodian engineering landscape and the broader Southeast Asian context, with insights into the region’s challenges and opportunities.
- Innovation and Adaptability: Proven track record of leading innovative practices, with a focus on integrating practical, technology-driven solutions suited to local contexts.
- Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional public speaking, writing, and networking skills to engage and collaborate with diverse audiences, from local industry leaders to international partners.
