Job Description

The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) works to promote independent media, press freedom, freedom of expression, access to information and internet freedom. CCIM focuses on promoting and defending media freedom, freedom of expression, and access to information. CCIM is known for its efforts to support independent journalism and advocate for a vibrant media environment in Cambodia. Currently, CCIM focuses on 1) Citizen Journalists Network 2) Media Training 3) Media and Information Literacy Training 4) Advocacy Efforts.

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Coordination and facilitation the implementation of specific project activities to achieve agreed-upon goals
  • Execute the project activities under the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Program, including MIL training, video contests, and youth forums in Phnom Penh and target provinces.
  • Facilitate the hosting of the "Let’s Talk Digital!" chit-chat program, and in updating and monitoring the related Facebook pages.
  • Plan and deliver MIL trainings and forums, in accordance with the project agreement and approved plans.
  • Develop and update the MIL curriculum and training matrix for MIL clubs and other training sessions.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to target groups and other stakeholders when needed
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the project activities to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to collecting data and monitoring the progress of the program’s outputs and achievements using the program’s M&E tools to produce relevant reports or proposals. Input data into the M&E system for the project implemented by the unit.
  • Prepare monthly project reports for presentation during program and department meetings; contribute to identifying lessons learned, as well as tracking the achievement of outcomes and impact
  • Support the Project Coordinator in preparing and drafting financial and narrative reports, and contribute to writing high-quality donor reports
  • Comply with administrative and financial requirements in the implementation of activities to guarantee CCIM's accountability to its stakeholders
  • Prepare administrative and supporting documents, such as meeting minutes, attendance lists, invitation letters, and contact details of target groups and partners to comply with CCIM’s policies;
  • Manage project budgets to ensure alignment with approved budgets and in preparing financial reports in compliance with CCIM’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor or the Management Committee upon consultation
  • Ensure a systematic filing system for all project supporting documents, and ensure all files are stored securely on the designated platform
  • Work constructively with colleagues across departments and teams to promote CCIM’s mission, vision, and goals
  • Maintain communication and interaction with donors, partners, and other stakeholders, and share experiences and lessons learned.
Job Requirements
  • Relevant education in Media, International Relations, Social Sciences, Project Management, or any other related field
  • At least 2 years of experience working with non-government organizations and other civil society groups
  • Strong knowledge and skills in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Willingness and ability to work on weekends and travel to target provinces as required
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with different personalities.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English
  • Ability to work with teams and handle different personalities
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, graphic software, and other internet applications
  • Sound understanding of the Cambodian context in terms of MIL, human rights, freedom of expression, access to information, and media landscape
  • Sound understanding of gender and willingness to promote gender equality and women's empowerment both within CCIM and through its projects
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach and ability to work under pressure and to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights, and democratic governance.
