Job Description

The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) is a media development organization engaged in the following activities: training of journalists and aspiring journalists, promotion and training on media and information literacy; training and networking with citizen journalists, and advocacy on media-related rights.

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Develop media and journalism training programs
  • Map out annual training plans for the target groups based on the training needs assessments conducted
  • Design and develop training programs using appropriate training methods or approaches
  • Promote available training programs to the target groups and collaborating with journalists’ associations, media learning institutions, and CSOs for training programs
  • Maintain a database or collection of updated media training curriculum and programs
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment
  • Program management and implement
  • Leads and oversees the implementation of the projects under CJN program to ensure achieving target output, outcome and objectives and goal of the program and CCIM’s;
  • Monitoring project plans, project schedules, budgets and expenditures ensuring the completion of project activates against outputs and deliverable based on the project/program
  • Prepare and update work plan for delivery of approved training project
  • Regularly review the expenditure of the training projects to ensure that budget is used accordingly and financial procedures and supporting documents are complied
  • Supervise, assist and monitor the carrying out of tasks of the members of the training project team to ensure that activities are carried out accordingly and deliverables are timely produced.
  • Regularly update the head of the department on the progress of the training projects.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other department to ensure smooth implementation of the training project
  • Coordinate with other departments and units to ensure that activities of the project assigned to staff in respective departments/ units are properly integrated in their departments/units' plans
  • Coordinate closely with the finance unit to ensure that budgets for the activities are expended accordingly and unused budget are addressed timely
  • Work closely with other staff of the department assisting in the implementation of the activities of the project
  • Ensure proper monitoring and reporting of the project
  • Collaborate with the M&E Officer in preparing the M&E plan in accordance with the agreed M&E of the projects.
  • Facilitate preparation of periodic reports, such as progress reports, annual reports and end of the project reports, as required by the project and finalize them in collaboration with M&E Officer.
  • Supervise and maintain a database or collection of M&E data for each project including participant list, internship, fellowship, number of trainings conducted, case studies, outcomes harvested, news story tracking and other output and outcomes of the projects
  • Communication and Representation
  • Maintain good relationships with respective donors and target groups to ensure smooth and effective communication.
  • Represent CCIM and promote its respective projects at meetings and other events when required.

Job Requirements
Languages:
  • Khmer - Fluent
  • English - Good
Work History:
  • At least, experience in delivering trainings within media environment for 2 years
  • At least, experience in journalism and media work for 2 years
Skills & Knowledge:General & Technical Skills
  • Relevant education in media, communications, and media, or any other related field.
  • Experience in developing concept note and project proposals related to training programs
  • Sound understanding of Cambodian media landscape and other issues related to human rights, freedom of expression, access to information, and press freedom.
  • Excellent spoken and written Khmer language skills
  • Can communicate in spoken and written English language
Soft Skills
  • Genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills and ability to manage sensitive issues with various stakeholders while motivating others.
  • A passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance.
