Job Description

We are now looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the position below: Psychologist.

 

Douleurs Sans Frontières (DSF) is a French medical NGO that has been operating in Cambodia since 1996. DSF’s current mission is to improve the quality of life of individuals facing life-limiting illnesses by providing palliative care and psychosocial support. The organization works in close collaboration with local authorities and partners to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care and to strengthen the capacity of the public health system in its areas of expertise. The DSF team is made up of dedicated Khmer medical and paramedical professionals, supported by both Khmer and international staff for program management and technical assistance.

  • Psychologist (1 Position)
Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Psychosocial support of patients and families
  • Conduct assessments of patients and their families to determine their psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social needs.
  • Participate in continuity of care plan by collaborating with medical and administrative teams.
  • Follow up and visit patients and their families at their home if needed (day missions and 1-to-4-night missions).
  • Educate patients and families about health rights, available resources and support systems.
  • Multidisciplinary work and networking
  • Link with the medical and paramedical team for ongoing case discussion and evaluation, patient advocacy, and treatment plans.
  • Identify relevant partners (institutions, NGOs, etc.) and build partnership for the referral of complex cases outside the scope of DSF or requiring specialized services (victims of abuse/violence, psychiatric needs, etc.).
  • Formalize referral procedures ensuring patients and family’s self-determination and right to confidentiality.
  • Training and capacity building
  • Identify good practices and establish guidelines for the support of DSF patients and their families.
  • Provide awareness and training sessions on palliative care and psychological support organized by DSF, to various partners such as hospitals, CSOs, local or international NGOs, universities.
  • Participate in the writing of documents, training material, guidelines or other supportive documents produced by DSF on psychological thematic.
  • Follow continuous training plan:
  • internal and external trainings on palliative care and psychological thematic,
  • academic readings and
  • case studies analysis and (group) discussion.
  • Administration and data management
  • Update patients’ medical records and other related information.
  • Collect and consolidate data’s; monitor patients’ statistics following patients’ confidentiality procedures.
  • Adhere to administrative directives related to work schedule, records keeping and communication with patients.
  • Adhere to DSF chart and internationally accepted humanitarian principles.
Job Requirements
  • Degree in psychology, with proven experience and expertise in counselling
  • Strong interest in working with patients living with chronic illnesses, particularly cancer
  • Motivation to engage in home-based care and community support
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a psychologist
  • Genuine interest and demonstrated ability in training, coaching, sensitizing, and sharing knowledge with diverse audiences (patients, families, health professionals, partners)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation
  • Team player with patience, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit
  • Serious, dynamic, and autonomous, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Professional working proficiency in both Khmer and English; French is an asset
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
