Asia-Pacific Programme
In collaboration with local partners, Fauna & Flora currently undertakes a broad range of conservation initiatives in Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam, with country programme offices in Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Yangon and Hanoi. We currently support around 70 projects in the region, involving a team of staff (c. 300), consultants and partner organisations, and have an annual regional budget of approximately USD 8 million.
Drawing on diverse conservation skills, experience and wider strengths across the organisation, including capacity building for conservation, enabling locally-led approaches, conservation finance, business engagement, climate resilience, community livelihoods and governance, wildlife trade, conservation design and monitoring, marine conservation, and sustainable agriculture and enterprise, we are global leaders in our efforts to safeguard vulnerable ecosystems and species. We tackle a broad spectrum of conservation challenges through the power of partnership. We were pioneers of putting conservation into local hands and we continue to strive to lead the field through our commitment to a long-term approach to partnership.
- Lead the implementation and enhancement of country-level communication strategies to ensure alignment with organisational priorities, adherence to global communication frameworks set by Fauna & Flora UK, and Country Programme strategy.
- Work closely with Programme Teams and the Country Director to develop annual communications action plans aligned with Fauna & Flora country objectives and fundraising priorities, and provide timely updates on emerging communications opportunities and relevant information.
- Ensure communications outputs are up to date and factually accurate, and curate field content for use across a range of external platforms
- Manage the Cambodia programme’s social media channels and plan engaging content to promote Fauna & Flora’s brand and conservation work.
- Capture and document images, video clips, and film during Fauna & Flora’s major events, project fieldwork, and planned project work, by ensuring these materials are produced as reference resources for both the Cambodia team and the global communications team.
- In collaboration with Fauna & Flora’s Media Relations Manager and the Country Director, support media activity, including:
- creating and distributing press releases and photographs
- preparing and arranging interviews with media, both nationally and occasionally internationally
- supporting responses to reactive media requests
- Contribute to the design of communications components of grant proposals and deliver the communications requirements outlined in grant agreements. Develop and implement communications and outreach activities for Fauna & Flora events.
- Lead the development and design communications materials to promote the Cambodia programme’s work. Act as a global brand champion and ensure the Fauna & Flora brand is consistently applied.
- Foster strong communication and relationships with key stakeholders including government partners, donors, and local communities while collaborating with the global communications team to showcase Cambodia’s conservation achievements to international audiences.
- Strengthen internal communications by building the capacity of programme staff through training, coaching, and guidance on branding, messaging, storytelling, media protocols, and Fauna & Flora’s communication guidelines ensure consistency.
- Ensure brand consistency and flag any reputational risks to the Country Director, the Programme Managers, and Communication teams
- Ensure accurate translation of communication materials from English to Khmer and vice versa when needed.

- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Media, or another relevant discipline demonstrating equivalent expertise
- At least of work experiences in a communications position for 5 years
- A solid understanding of strategic, objectives-led communications.
- A good understanding of best practices across a wide range of communications channels (both online and offline).
- Solid knowledge of social media management tool and social media platforms
- Experience working with designers to produce high-quality print and online materials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Khmer and English.
- Excellent proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
- Detail-orientated and good ability to multitask to meet multiple deadlines.
- Intuition for and understanding of what makes a good story.
- Proven ability to develop strong working relationships quickly.
- Experience developing communications strategies and plans.
- Experience liaising with the press.
- Experience working effectively with teams based remotely
- A good understanding of conservation issues.
- Experience in the conservation and/or international NGO sector.
- An eye for design or graphic design experience.
- Competent photographer and/or videographer
- Up-to-date with current industry developments on the communications material and contents
