Job Description

GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

The AgriTrade Project “Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains in ASEAN” and The SUCCESS Project “Support to Consumer Protection, Competitiveness, and Small and Medium Enterprises in ASEAN,” implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is seeking a National Junior Advisor for Private Sector Development. This position is based in Phnom Penh.

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Supporting the planning, implementation, and coordination of activities with a focus on agriculture, trade, and economic development.
  • Supporting research and advocacy efforts, including analyzing gender-disaggregated data to address gender-related barriers for women entrepreneurs.
  • Assisting with activities that support SMEs, women entrepreneurs, specifically by facilitating their access to matchmaking, information services, and other market opportunities.
  • Contributing to the full project lifecycle, including planning, implementation, and quality management.
  • Assisting in drafting key documents such as Terms of Reference and background papers for project activities.
  • Managing project logistics, such as preparing for meetings, seminars, and events, as well as handling invitations.
  • Assisting in the facilitation of trainings, workshops, and dialogues on quality and sustainability standards in agricultural value chains for public, private, and civil society partners in Cambodia.
  • Supporting knowledge management, research, and report writing.
  • Participating in internal and external meetings and workshops to represent GIZ and its project portfolio.
  • Contributing to communication materials, including media content, for both internal and external purposes.
  • Regularly inform project leaders and supervisors at the country level and the regional team about important topics in Cambodia that are relevant to ASEAN Regional Economic Integration.
Job Requirements
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Economic Development, Trade, International Relations, Agriculture and /or Agribusiness.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in project management and in a field related to consumer protection, competition policy, agriculture or providing support to SMEs in a digital economy context.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders from the public, private, and civil society sectors.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team toward shared goals, but also being able to work independently, goal-oriented, with initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards, demonstrating professionalism, conscientiousness, and a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong multitasking and critical thinking skills with high reliability and following through.
  • A very good command of Khmer and English (spoken and written).
