Under the umbrella of the Nurture Programme which is designed to enhance the climate resilience of smallholder farmers, from 2023 to 2026, three cohorts of Khmer Agriculture for the Future (KAF) Incubators and Accelerator — led by Impact Hub Phnom Penh — support ventures and agricultural cooperatives (ACs) in four Cambodian provinces: Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear. It aims to enhance their entrepreneurship and climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) capabilities and extend their impact on farmers. Ultimately, the program aims to encourage the adoption of CRA and agroecological practices among smallholder farmers, boosting their yields and incomes.
The Khmer Agriculture for the Future (KAF) Program supports several agri-input providers and ACs offering products to enhance farmers’ climate resilience, such as seeds, tractors, and net houses, to small-holder farmers in four Northwest provinces. While these businesses have significant potential to improve farmer resilience and productivity, many face varied challenges in product distribution and adoption.
This qualitative, case-based study seeks to unpack how different agri-input providers’ distribution models function in practice, the enablers and barriers they face in reaching smallholder farmers, and to some extent, the contribution of KAF’s interventions to their growth and farmer-level impact. The study will emphasize the perspectives, opportunities, and constraints of agri-input providers with the goal to identify practices areas support programs, such as KAF, could assist.

- Required:
- Advanced degree in economics, development studies, agribusiness, or related field. 5 years of experience in the agribusiness industry could be a substitute.
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in applied qualitative research, preferably in agriculture or rural development.
- Proven experience and knowledge about agribusinesses and/or agricultural cooperatives/unions
- Strong analytical and writing skills; ability to synthesize complex findings into actionable insights.
- Fluency in English and Khmer (spoken and written).
- Nice to have:
- Knowledge of climate-resilient agriculture and Cambodian agricultural value chains.
- Proven experience in designing and conducting field-based studies with smallholder farmers.
- Familiarity with donor-funded programs and evaluation approaches.
- Sensitivity to gender and inclusion in research design
