Job Description
The International French School of Battambang is an international school following the official French curriculum from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. From 3:15 PM to 4:45 PM, Monday to Friday, the school offers an extracurricular Khmer program for students from grades 1 to 5. This program has been officially recognized as equivalent to the Cambodian national curriculum by the Ministry of Education, allowing students to continue their education in the Khmer school system if needed. The school’s long-term goal is to extend this equivalency to the middle school level.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Teach Khmer to a class of students
- Design, adapt, and oversee Khmer language and culture curricula using varied and interactive teaching methods
- Support teachers in lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment
- Assist teachers in strengthening their pedagogical skills
- Develop assessment tools and monitor student progress
- Coordinate cultural projects related to the Khmer language (traditional celebrations, workshops, educational outings)
- Facilitate communication between Khmer teachers and other academic departments (French, English, etc.)
- Participate in pedagogical meetings and contribute to the school’s educational strategy
- Develop a Khmer curriculum for middle school to extend learning equivalency through the end of middle school (Grade 9)
Job Requirements
- Requirement
- Degree in pedagogy or Khmer language education
- Significant experience in teaching or educational coordination
- Proficiency in Khmer (spoken and written) and strong knowledge of language teaching methodologies
- Proficiency in French or English is essential to collaborate with the school director. Being literate in French is definitely a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively, lead meetings, and support teaching staff
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and creative pedagogical approach
