Job Description
Smiling Gecko Cambodia (SGC) was officially registered in 2014 as a local non-profit NGO in Cambodia. It provides direct aid in the form of finance and other support to the needy in Cambodia, sponsoring projects that are sustainable both from an ecological and economic standpoint.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Crop Production & Field Support
- Assist in daily horticultural activities in greenhouse, net house, and vanilla production areas.
- Support the implementation of planting, watering, fertilization, pruning, and harvesting activities as instructed.
- Monitor crop growth, plant health, and field conditions and report observations to the cluster Agriculture Manager
- Soil, Water & Crop Care
- Assist in maintaining soil health through proper cultivation practices.
- Support irrigation and fertilization programs according to approved schedules.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light levels and report abnormalities.
- Pest & Disease Monitoring
- Observe crops for signs of pests and diseases and report issues promptly.
- Assist in implementing pest and disease control measures under supervision.
- Ensure safe handling and use of agricultural inputs in line with safety guidelines.
- Quality & SOP Compliance
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for crop production and quality control.
- Support routine inspections of plants and growing conditions.
- Help maintain consistent product quality standards.
- Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of daily horticultural activities and production data, especially vanilla cultivation.
- Assist in preparing reports for the clustered Horticulture Manager.
- Ensure timely submission of field data and observations.
- Sustainability, Safety & Biosecurity
- Support the implementation of sustainable horticultural practices.
- Follow environmental, health, and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist in maintaining biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with horticultural staff and seasonal workers to complete assigned tasks.
- Provide technical support to field staff as guided by the cluster Agriculture Manager.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum the fresh graduate or relevant experience in horticulture or agricultural production for 1 year
- Basic knowledge of plant care, pest and disease identification, irrigation, and soil management.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Willingness to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
