Job Description

The WWT is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. For over a decade we have worked in Cambodia to conserve and restore key wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

We are now looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the position below:

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Act as the focal point for WWTs work to manage the work linked to the project’s existing and future outputs and acting as a standing member of the Project Management Team.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the project for its effective and efficient implementation.
  • Support the development of wetland-friendly agricultural systems that improve community livelihoods while contributing to habitat conservation objectives.
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of potential lotus or other livelihood interventions, including production, processing, value addition, business development, and market access initiatives.
  • Facilitate value chain assessments, market studies, and business partnerships to strengthen producer access to local and national markets.
  • Coordinate regular monitoring of livelihood project outcomes (such as adoption of regenerative farming practices, and impacts on household income) and the impact of those livelihood on wetland health and biodiversity.
  • Manage the inputs of the project team, and support the staff consultants, and contractors engaged in the project activities to deliver quality outputs and outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain project management tools (workplans, operational procedures, monitoring and evaluation plans etc).
  • Support in facilitating all procurement bidding process, procurement committee in the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors, to promote good procurement practice in regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards
  • Draft terms of reference for consultants / third parties to be engaged during all project phases.
  • Ensure quality control of internal and external project reports.
  • Liaise regularly with the Country Manager and the Senior Project Manager and prepare first drafts of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to donors (as required).
  • Ensure responsible and transparent management of financial and physical resources.
  • Coordinate with WWT technical staff and partners from Cambodia and UK, based on plans developed by the assigned technical staff.
  • Liaise with various national and local stakeholders as required by the project and WWT to meet the requirements for transparency and engagement.
  • To step up to Scientific Coordinator and lead on the scientific activities when the Senior Project Manager is away
Job Requirements
Languages:
  • English - Fluent is preferred
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Science or equivalent professional experience in a relevant subject, eg, environmental science, biology, geography, hydrology or project management
Work History:
  • NGOs and Community Development for 5 to 10 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:General & Technical Skills
  • Experience conducting livelihood project, especially agricultural or related.
  • Experience in enterprise development, value chain development or agricultural marketing.
  • Experience in working with NGOs
  • Experience establishing market linkages and improving market access for rural producers.
  • Experience working within wetland landscapes.
  • Experience developing rice, agriculture, or nature-based enterprises.
  • Experience with biodiversity, or nature-positive value chains.
  • Previous experience of line managing or supervising at least one staff member, including setting objectives, providing direction and support, monitoring performance, and conducting regular performance discussions.
  • Experience of managing staff or field teams working in remote or challenging conditions, including ensuring appropriate communication, health and safety, and safeguarding arrangements.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate the contributions of different team members and partners to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
  • Current car driving license is an advantage.
  • Experience of supervising staff from different professional or technical backgrounds.
  • Experience of mentoring or coaching junior staff and supporting their professional development.
Soft Skills
  • Ability to provide clear direction, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure staff and other team members understand their roles, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate, support, and develop team members, recognising individual strengths and addressing performance or capacity issues appropriately.
