This Life is an award-winning community development organisation that believes in listening to, engaging with and advocating alongside families and communities as they define and act on their own solutions to complex social issues. This Life currently operates programs under three sections: Children and Families, Communities, and Impact, Learning, and Effectiveness. This Life’s Shared Services support these sections.
The Shared Services Team is responsible for ensuring strong governance, financial management, compliance, risk management, HR, administration and operational systems that enable effective program delivery and organisational sustainability.
The Finance Team within Shared Services is responsible for maintaining financial integrity, donor compliance (including DFAT/ANCP where applicable), internal controls, accurate reporting, and long-term financial sustainability.

- Strategic & Organisational Leadership
- Ensure the effective financial management of This Life, including integrity of accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, balance sheet and cash flow management.
- Provide expert financial advice and support to the leadership team in financial monitoring, planning, forecasting, budgeting and program analysis.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support program decision-making and resource allocation across organisational programs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of This Life’s strategic and operational plans.
- Conduct financial scenario modelling to inform strategic planning, organisational sustainability, and resource allocation decisions.
- Collaborate with the leadership team, Cambodian and Australian Governments, community stakeholders and private sector partners to implement This Life’s Strategic Plans.
- Develop, implement and administer effective administrative, financial and operational policies, systems, procedures and guidelines in consultation with the leadership team.
- Lead, manage and develop finance and administrative staff, volunteers and contractors to ensure efficient and effective financial services and timely, accurate reporting.
- Financial Management
- Manage the preparation of financial projections, budgets and reports, and oversee the administration of all financial accounts.
- Develop financial models for grant pipelines to support organisational planning and future funding scenarios.
- Provide financial advice, support and guidance to the Executive Director, leadership team and program teams as required.
- Ensure financial policies, systems and processes promote and protect the financial position of the organisation.
- Prepare and present financial reports, analysis, and supporting documentation for the Audit Risk and Finance Committee (ARFC), enabling the Committee to review organisational financial performance, risk management, internal controls, and audit matters in accordance with its governance and oversight responsibilities.
- Oversee accounts services, including preparation and processing of financial transactions, payments, invoices and associated documentation.
- Manage and report on cash flow projections across multiple projects and funding streams.
- Conduct impact and outcome cost analysis to support value-for-money assessments and program effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to external funding bodies and provide monthly internal financial reports and other reports as required.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards for leadership to support real-time monitoring of organisational and program financial performance.
- Manage the annual budgeting and reporting process.
- Ensure preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with external auditors to produce audited financial accounts for the Executive Director and Board.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Assist the Executive team to ensure compliance with statutory, funding, contractual and legislative obligations relating to This Life’s operations.
- Prepare organisational documents required for legal and financial compliance matters.
- Lead the development of the Annual Report in consultation with the leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with Cambodian and Australian legislative requirements, including:
- Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) Act (Cth)
- Cambodian Taxation (Cth)
- Accounting and Auditing Regulator
- Conduct research and analysis relating to risk management and compliance across organisational operations.
- Establish and implement effective risk management systems and controls.
- Lead strategic financial risk management and organisational reserves planning to support long-term sustainability.
- Physical Resource Management
- Manage and oversee This Life’s physical infrastructure, including leasing arrangements and maintenance schedules.
- Oversee asset management processes including procurement, allocation, maintenance, valuation, depreciation and disposal.
- Analyse resource management issues affecting the organisation and prepare associated reports, correspondence and submissions as required.
- English - Fluent
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in a senior financial management role within a not-for-profit or international NGO for 5 years as a minimum
- Demonstrated experience in complex donor financial reporting and multi-project grant management.
- Strong experience in budgeting, advanced financial forecasting and scenario modelling.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical capability in financial planning and organisational sustainability.
- Experience managing institutional or grant-based funding (DFAT/ANCP experience desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks or similar). Xero experience is highly desirable.
- Experience leveraging digital tools and AI-enabled systems to improve financial efficiency, reporting accuracy and process automation is highly desirable.
- Experience developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Cambodian financial regulations and Australian compliance requirements (ACNC highly desirable).
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring staff.
