Job Description

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), founded in 1895, is a global conservation organization with a mission to save wildlife and wild places around the world. WCS's goal is to conserve the world's largest wild places in 15 priority regions, home to more than 50 percent of the world's biodiversity. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries.

WCS has been working in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia since 1999, providing technical advice and support for the conservation of key habitats and species throughout the country.

The WCS Cambodia Program is expanding and seeking qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Research, Monitoring, and Analysis
  • Design and implement research activities related to wildlife crime, hunting, wildlife trade, and conservation threats.
  • Conduct market surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and other data collection activities to assess wildlife trade dynamics and emerging threats.
  • Analyze research and monitoring data and contribute to the development of crime scripts, threat assessments, and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other WCS teams to collect, manage, and analyze wildlife and snare monitoring data to inform conservation and law enforcement actions.
  • Prepare technical reports, research outputs, presentations, and other knowledge products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Coordination and Project Support
  • Support and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to strengthen wildlife crime prevention and enforcement efforts in priority landscapes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of wildlife crime prevention strategies and interventions based on research findings and field observations.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies, local communities, NGOs, donors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project activities with relevant WCS teams,
  • Support project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and donor compliance requirements.
  • Undertake frequent field travel to project sites and priority conservation landscapes as required.
Job Requirements
Languages:
  • English - Fluent
  • Khmer - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, conservation, law, social sciences or other relevant areas.
Skills & Knowledge:General & Technical Skills
  • Experience in conducting qualitative research, proven analytical skills and writing research reports.
  • Full professional proficiency of English and Khmer language, including writing.
  • Able and willing to travel to the field in remote areas.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized with an ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
