Job Description

Why Join Marici Cambodia?

Marici Cambodia is a registered NGO based in Phnom Penh working at the intersection of education, empowerment, and community development. Our Leadership Home programme provides a structured residential learning environment where young women aged 14–18 develop language skills, digital capabilities, and the personal confidence to step into leadership in their own lives.

We are building a team of dedicated educators who want more than a job — professionals who want to shape an innovative curriculum, see measurable growth in their students, and grow alongside the organisation. This role offers creative freedom, institutional support, and a career with genuine purpose.

Why Join Marici?

  • A Global Laboratory for Change: Collaborate with international experts and contribute to cross-border knowledge sharing
  • Scientific Growth: Be trained in scientific field methodologies — data collection, impact monitoring, and strategic advocacy
  • Career Advancement: Clear path into leadership as national and global programs expand

We are now looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the position below:

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Curriculum Design & Lesson Planning
  • Develop a full 12-month English Language curriculum for beginner-to-intermediate learners, with structured 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month learning milestones
  • Write detailed weekly and monthly lesson plans covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  • Integrate cross-cutting themes into the curriculum: personal identity, goal setting, communication, self-advocacy, and future planning
  • Design differentiated lesson activities that accommodate varying literacy levels within the same class
  • Create supplementary materials: vocabulary banks, reading passages, writing frames, speaking activity cards
  • Review and update curriculum each term based on student progress data and programme feedback
  • Classroom Teaching & Student Engagement
  • Deliver daily English sessions using communicative, activity-based, and project-based methodologies
  • Build a motivating, student-centred classroom environment where learners take ownership of their progress
  • Use a range of instructional techniques: pair and group work, storytelling, presentations, debates, role plays, and creative writing
  • Monitor individual student engagement, participation, and confidence week by week
  • Adapt pacing and approach for students joining mid-cohort or returning after absence
  • English Environment & Immersion
  • Establish and sustain a whole-home English immersion culture: vocabulary displays, daily English greetings, conversation challenges, word-of-the-day routines
  • Coordinate with other educators and residence staff to embed English micro-practice into daily schedules
  • Encourage and support students in using English outside the classroom — in conversations, written notes, and digital communication
  • Assessment & Progress Tracking
  • Design and administer simple, non-threatening formative assessments at regular intervals
  • Maintain an individual progress record for each student across all four language skills
  • Produce a written progress summary for each student at the 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month milestones
  • Use progress data to adapt teaching priorities and set meaningful next-step goals with each student
  • International & Virtual Learning Support
  • Prepare students for participation in international virtual conferences, online learning sessions, and exchange webinars
  • Coach students in English presentation skills, video-call etiquette, and digital communication for international contexts
  • Support visiting international educators or programme partners with interpretation, facilitation, and student liaison
  • Contribute to cross-programme English learning exchanges with partner organisations
  • Event, Communication & Translation Support
  • Provide English–Khmer interpretation at internal and external programme events, donor meetings, and partner visits
  • Translate key programme documents, communications, and materials as requested
  • Support students in preparing English speeches, presentations, or testimonials for programme events and graduations
  • Collaboration & Reporting
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, monthly programme reviews, and quarterly planning cycles
  • Contribute English programme updates to donor reports, programme summaries, and M&E documentation
  • Collaborate with the Digital Design Educator to develop integrated project-based units that combine language and design skills
  • Mentor and supervise English language volunteers placed at the Leadership Home
