Launched in 2002, Sala Baï Hotel and Restaurant school is a program created by the French NGO Agir Pour le Cambodge (APLC), to fight poverty and human trafficking through social and professional training of young underprivileged Cambodians. Each year the school trains free of charge, about 150 young disadvantaged Cambodians between 17 and 23 years old. It offers 5 different training categories in the hospitality industry: Restaurant Service, Cooking, Housekeeping, Front Office and Beauty Therapy. The hotel, restaurant and spa of the school are open to the public to allow the students to practice in real conditions. With more than 2 100 ALUMNI trained, Sala Baï is recognized as a leading impact program in Cambodia.
- Operations and Service Quality
- Support the CBTC team to improve daily operations
- Help organize daily work and regular trainings, and improve service standards
- Coach staff to improve hospitality quality
- Support stock control, expense and revenue management, and service organization
- Help ensure services meet expectations of international visitors
- Tourism and Revenue Development
- Maintain relationships with tour agencies
- Help develop new tourism partnerships
- Support marketing and visibility efforts
- Improve existing tourism products
- Support development of new income activities
- Community Support:
- You will work closely with:
- 2 CBTC Managers
- 1 Admin/Marketing staff
- 6 cooks
- 69 Community members involved in tourism
- You will help them organize their work, solve problems, and improve performance.
- You will coordinate hospitality trainings provided by Sala Baï to the community and coordinate various stakeholder’s visits
- Field Work
- Spend 1 to 2 weeks per month in Phnom Kulen
- Provide hands-on support and follow-up
- Submit regular activity reports
- Liaison between ADF and Sala Baï’s teams with reporting tools and regular meetings
- English - Good
- Experience in tourism or hospitality
- Good English communication skills
- Computer literate in office software packages
- Experience working with communities
- Practical and patient personality
- Interest in community development
- Reliable and adaptable
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently
- Willing to travel and stay regularly to Phnom Kulen
