University of Health Sciences is the oldest and leading university in the health sciences field in Cambodia. UHS vision is to be the institution excellence in Health Sciences Training, Research, Innovation and service provision. The research fellow will contribute to the improvement of knowledge by conducting in-depth health sciences research in agreement with the strategic objectives of the Global Health Research Center (CHRC) at UHS. The research fellow’s primary purpose is to conduct research projects, formalizing objectives and hypotheses, and conducting analyses. He/She will be responsible for disseminating their findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences. This position, adapted to early-career academics, will allow the research fellow to enhance his/her professional skills by managing projects, constructing their personal academic reputation and contributing to the visibility of the GHRC. The research fellow will also play an important role in mentoring and supervising research assistants, postgraduate students and junior researchers.
- Contribute to the design, implement and manage research projects in health policy, health systems and health financing, according to the themes and priorities of the GHRC;
- Ensure the supervision of implementation and data collection; conduct quantitative and economic analyses, interpret and evaluate research data to produce meaningful conclusions;
- Write and publish peer-reviewed articles; elaborate research reports and policy briefs; present findings at conferences, seminars and policy forums;
- Identify funding opportunities and write proposals to support research projects, including in health financing and UHC-related topics;
- Participate in the mentoring of young researchers, students and research assistants;
- Comply with the assignments of the GHRC Director and the Project Manager.
- Phd is preferred
- Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Political Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences, or a closely related field is required
- Research on health systems, health policy or health financing, with a proven record of at least 1 peer-reviewed publication and/or presentations at conferences for 1 year as a minimum
- Experience in multidisciplinary research and engagement with external partners (research institutions, public sector, donors, international organizations and other stakeholders) is an asset;
- Tracking deadlines, and supervising young researchers is required, and experience in managing research projects is an asset.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools such as R, Stata, or Excel for data cleaning, visualization and modelling of health outcomes and costs; familiarity with economic modelling tools is an asset;
- Technical competence in health financing strategies, including strategic purchasing, resource allocation, and national health accounts, with a focus on achieving universal health coverage (UHC) is considered an asset;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for the elaboration of reports, policy briefs, proposals and the presentation of findings to both academic and non-specialist audiences;
- Understanding of research governance, ethics, funding mechanisms and institutional partnerships;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking, with particular aptitude for quantitative and economic analysis;
- Autonomy and ability to work in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations;
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
